THE OCTOBER PROBLEM

The costume is not the problem: nobody knows what to come as

Costume parties fail for the same reason every time. The invitation goes out with no concept, guests have no idea what to wear, half of them show up in street clothes and the other half show up as the same thing. A clear concept solves that in one line: guests get it immediately, spend less and arrive ready for the photo.

THE SEVEN CONCEPTS

Seven parties that actually fill up

Each concept has one strong visual hook and its own staging. Pick the one that looks like your crowd; we handle the rest.

The Ex's Wake

Fake mourning. Everyone in black, veils and dark glasses. At the door, a framed photo of the ex, the boss or last year.

HookLow fog crawling between funeral wreaths. The beat drops, the magenta lights come up and the wake turns into a dance floor.

The costume is an emotion, not a character. Nobody arrives repeated and the joke lands instantly.

Badly Dressed On Purpose

Spending money is banned. Cardboard, tape and bags, whatever is around the house. Prize for the worst costume, not the best.

HookThe costume is yours, the production is ours. The same scrappy cardboard looks huge under concert lighting.

It takes the pressure off. The guest who was not coming because they had no costume becomes the main character.

National Telenovela

Soap-opera villains, patrones, the mother who objects to the wedding and the leading man with his shirt undone. Pure Colombian drama.

HookCut-to-commercial transitions: hard zoom to the face, freeze frame, offset magenta border. Five cuts in a row and the music starts.

Pure nostalgia. Everyone already has a character in mind without any explaining.

Double Identity

You arrive as one thing. At midnight an alarm goes off, the lights drop for ten seconds and everyone switches to the B side of their costume.

HookThe blackout. Total dark, fog, and the lights come back on a different crowd.

It breaks the midpoint slump. It is a second opening, not a party winding down.

Parade troupe in turquoise and red costumes

Tropi-Future

Space cumbia. LED-lit sombrero vueltiao, metallic ruana, Colombian folklore run through Blade Runner.

HookThe cyan-to-magenta gradient hitting a wayuu bag and a shiny poncho. Neon and tradition in the same frame.

Nobody has pulled it off properly yet and it looks incredible on camera. The most photogenic concept on the list.

All White

One rule: wear white. We bring the black light and the paint. The costume gets built inside the party.

HookOne fluorescent stripe on a white t-shirt and, two hours later, the whole floor is glowing.

The easiest sell. No excuses, no spending, and the result looks like a proper festival.

Your Block, The Casting

The corner-shop owner, the nosy neighbour, the guy on the motorbike, the lady on the bus and the wedding DJ running Spotify.

HookA character carousel like video-game cards, each with its name on a magenta bar.

The funniest one. It becomes a conversation by itself: people dress up as people they know.

WHAT WE STAGE

The production that holds the concept up

The concept sells the party, but the gear is what holds it up. Everything is ours, with a technician on site from start to finish.

Lighting and fog setup for a Halloween party in Bogotá — La Rumbería
  • Sound that covers the room

Line array or active speakers depending on the space, with a wireless mic for the costume contest and the games. Sound checked before the first guest arrives.

  • Lighting that builds the mood

A rig with moving heads, coloured uplights along the walls and laser. The same room looks different in every block of the night.

  • Fog and black light

A fog machine for the low-lying haze and black light with fluorescent paint when the concept calls for it. These two effects change the photo the most.

  • A DJ who reads the floor

A set built in blocks, not a playlist. Reggaeton, trap, guaracha, electronic and crossover, with the payoff exactly where it belongs.

  • Hora loca and hosting

Props, batucada and an energy lift when the floor cools down. The host stays in character, matching the concept you picked.

  • Setup, sound check and teardown

We arrive early, set up, test and strike everything at the end. You carry nothing and wait for nobody.

HOW THE NIGHT RUNS

The run of show for a costume party that works

A costume party is not a normal party with oddly dressed people. It has its own moments and somebody has to direct them.

  1. The entrance

The first minute defines everything. Low fog, coloured light and a photo spot ready from the start, so whoever came in costume knows it was worth it.

  2. The warm-up

Background music and crossover while people arrive. Nobody dances in an empty room, so the volume climbs in steps, not all at once.

  3. The contest

Microphone, improvised runway and live voting. This is where the party laughs at itself and the groups stop being strangers.

  4. The opening

The heavy block drops with laser and fog. From here on the floor does not empty again if the set is built properly.

  5. The midnight hit

Hora loca, blackout or reveal, depending on the concept. It is the second opening that keeps the party from dying at one in the morning.

  6. The close

The last thirty minutes bring the energy down on purpose, with familiar crossover, so people leave singing instead of stopping cold.
